La tenuta di Pojega, fu acquistata nel 1649 dai conti Rizzardi, già residenti a Verona.

Il giardino, commissionato nel 1783 da Antonio Rizzardi (1742-1808) a Luigi Trezza (1752-1823), rappresenta uno degli ultimi esempi di giardino all’italiana, noto per il suo teatro di verzura e le spettacolari prospettive (disegni originali nella Biblioteca Civica di Verona).

La superficie é di circa 54000mq.: tempio, teatro, muri, gallerie e belvedere sono stati costruiti trasformando e piegando alberi, siepi e acqua in una antasmagorica macchina per lo spettacolo.

La villa è stata ristrutturata intorno al 1850, con richiami al Quattrocento veneziano, su progetto dell’architetto Filippo Messedaglia (1823-1901).

Il giardino è stato recentemente aperto al pubblico per permettere la visita agli appassionati.

The gardens, commissioned in 1783 by Antonio Rizzardi to Luigi Trezza (1752-1823), represent the last masterpiece of Italian gardens, known for its green amphitheatre and its spectacular perspectives (original drawings in the Biblioteca Civica of Verona).

The surface is of 54000 sqm (13.3 acres): temple, theatre, walls, galleries and belvedere have been built transforming and bending trees, hedges and water into a phantasmagorical show machine.

The gardens of Pojega have been recently opened to the public for visits and wine tastings.
